The transparency and efficiency of the public sector is a great challenge in Latin America. All available indicators show a slow (and in some cases, not very favorable) evolution in terms of transparency, open data and contracting. Transparency is a value to be protected in our communities and a shared responsibility of government and society. ILDA aims to contribute to transparent states and societies able to control and provide to the government. ILDA has contributed to the development and monitoring of the agenda of open data publication by governments and aided, in particular, to the openness of public procurement. ILDA will focus on two topics in this line of work: open contracting and the development of capacities and knowledge for the use of data in accountability.

We hope to contribute to greater openness in data on procurement, greater capacity in the civil service to make data open and useful, as well as to help understand how open data can contribute to greater efficiency and transparency in the region.
